Top Tips For Job Interviews

Attending a job interview can be very daunting. Today, I am going to share with you some of my personal top tips for attending any job interview.

Research
Before any job interview I would highly recommend you conducting some research. Have a look into the company you are having an interview for. Knowing facts about their company can impress them. You can also find out about their interview process through researching. Allowing you to feel prepared.

Preparation
Consider preparing for your interview the night before. Decide what you are wearing and how you are having your hair. This will help you to feel less stressed the morning of your interview.

Presenting Yourself
Consider how you want to present yourself. You will need to decide if you want to present yourself as being timid or confident. If confidence if the way then practice how you will be speaking. Consider how you will be sitting with your posture too.

Is University always necessary?

This is a massive debate amongst everyone, is university always necessary? In my opinion, no, going to university is not always necessary. There are many different ways which you can evolve into professionally work without having a university degree or the debt. Some of these include apprenticeships or gaining work experience. Some companies will hire trainees for certain roles allowing you to grow with a company and work your way up to the role you desire. However, some jobs do require a university degree. For example, if you were to want to work for the NHS. It is important you gain a medical degree in the sector you wish to work. Most university students will be offered jobs from their work placements when studying medical degrees which is a bonus. But to conclude, my answer is no. Do not street about going to university. There are other ways to build yourself in this world.

Jobs for 16 year olds

From the age of 16 you are officially able to be employed by a company earning a monthly wage. But what are some jobs which you can apply for? Not all will be open for you currently.

Supermarket
Most high street supermarkets will hire young adults to work for them. Most places will pay you minimum wage for your age. However, some places are known to pay more to allow all workers to be equal.

Apprenticeships
If you already know what you want your dream career to be, you can apply to work as an apprentice after you have your exam results. This is available for near enough anything. From childcare and hairdressing to advertisement and writing.

Restaurant Work

Again most restaurants will hire young adults to work for them. This is normally as a waiter or waitress or pot washer. But sometimes you may be offered to work in the kitchen if you have the skills.

Are we experiencing the rise of the freelancer?

Freelancing is very common in many industries, such as marketing, writing, photography, project management, accountancy, and interior design, to name a few. The UK has over 2 million freelancers, and the number continues to rise. So what is it about freelancing that’s so great?

As a sole trader (self-employed) individual, you can work when you like. Of course, you need to be ablet o promote yourself and maintain strong relationships with clients, however, at the best of times you can enjoy great flexibility while setting the right price for your time and work. There can be downsides, though. When things are quiet, it can be immensely stressful and daunting, especially when your next significant rent or mortgage payment is due. Freelancing is essential entrepreneurship in many ways. You have to run a successful business to keep yourself afloat, but when things are going well and work increases, as does pay! And it’s enriching.
