Are we experiencing the rise of the freelancer?

Freelancing is very common in many industries, such as marketing, writing, photography, project management, accountancy, and interior design, to name a few. The UK has over 2 million freelancers, and the number continues to rise. So what is it about freelancing that’s so great?

As a sole trader (self-employed) individual, you can work when you like. Of course, you need to be ablet o promote yourself and maintain strong relationships with clients, however, at the best of times you can enjoy great flexibility while setting the right price for your time and work. There can be downsides, though. When things are quiet, it can be immensely stressful and daunting, especially when your next significant rent or mortgage payment is due. Freelancing is essential entrepreneurship in many ways. You have to run a successful business to keep yourself afloat, but when things are going well and work increases, as does pay! And it’s enriching.
